Andy Bloch
Andy is still looking for a job in the law field. At least, that’s what he tells his folks. In the meanwhile, he continues to show up at tournaments across the land, playing poker and making a killing. To date he has won over a million dollars playing poker tournaments; add that to whatever he makes running multiple websites, including the unofficial World Poker Tour fan site plus his earnings as a member of team Full Tilt, and it would explain why Andy Bloch has never held a job as a lawyer, despite passing the bar in 1999.
He did work for a law firm while in school at Harvard, but the job just couldn’t keep his interest. He had to exercise some discipline in order to graduate, skipping the World Series of Poker in 1999; he had missed a chunk of classes the two previous years in order to attend the WSOP.
Andy is a good choice to run the WPT fan site. If it weren’t for the WPT, he may have faded away from tournament play, as he was loosing interest in the lifestyle. When the World Poker Tour opened up, however, it gave him the shot in the arm he needed, and he redoubled his tournament career.
Cards and Andy go way back. He states on his website that he has always played cards with family and friends, and won far more often than not. When Foxwoods Casino opened its doors, Andy stopped by for a visit, and it wasn’t long before he was hooked. Traveling two hours both ways, he began making monthly trips to Foxwoods, participating in $35 tournaments. By the end of the year he won a seat in a World Poker Finals, and there he was introduced to no-limit.
These days Andy can be found answering questions and sharing strategy at his site and the WPT fan site, as well as at Full Tilt Poker, and you will certainly see him in the casinos and on TV as he makes final table after final table.
